DIY - Candy Tree

This is a tutorial on how to make your own candy tree for the holidays. I learned how to make these quite a few years ago from my best friend, Kristina, from Junior High/High School and her mom, Annette.

This one is for you, Annette!

  • Cone shaped styrofoam
  • A good amount of very small push pins
  • 1-2 bags of Mini candy bars of your choice
  • Decorative Pins (Optional)
  • Ribbon (Optional)

First, start from the bottom and go all the way around the base of the cone with the candy. Use the pins to stick the end of the wrapper onto the cone & not puncture the candy. You'll want to use a pin on both ends of the wrapper to keep it together, but as you go up you will only need one pin per candy until the top.

Then, once you have candy all the way around the base, go up, alternating in between the ones below. Try to keep it tight with as less spacing between each candy as possible, so you don't have any cone showing through.

Finally, at the very top, you want to make sure to stick your last ones onto the tip of the cone, leaving just enough space to put one standing upward onto the tree. You'll have to use 2-3 pins to get the top one to stand without puncturing the candy.

You're done! I hope you liked this tutorial, and feel free to comment or share pictures of your candy tree.

Happy Holidays!

  1. A very cool project indeed. I can't believe how quickly you were able to do it, and how amazing it looks. It will definitely be a great memory and staple for many Christmas to come!
